Decorating for Christmas is one of my favorite winter traditions! When I was little my whole family would go to the tree lot the day after Thanksgiving and pick out a fresh fir tree. Strapping it to the top of the van and coming home to pull bins of lights out of the attic was always a family affair and we spent the rest of the day decorating all together.
What is fun about “traditions” these days, as we have clearly seen in wedding trends, is that they are flexible to you as an individual. You can create traditions that fit you and your family and celebrate them each year. If you are looking for some clever ideas, or want to start new traditions, we’ve got some inspiration for you! Our friends were kind enough to let us peak into their homes and snap some ideas from their winter decor. Here’s an original roundup of some of our favorite Christmas trees and decor. These are so easy to do yourself!
Wreath Around a Cake Stand - Genius!
Garland Swag & Ornaments in Apothecary Jars - Simple, but not understated.
Icicle Swag with Ornaments – We love this fresh idea! (Good thinking, Hanna!)
Wrapped Shoe Box Tops – Simple & friendly to any budget!
Lights on an old Window Pane – How fun! What a perfect way to fill an empty wall or space.
Here are some great tree ideas, too!
Red, White, and Muted Lime Green - I saw this at Downtown Disney this week and loved the color scheme! I also love how well lit it is. For tips on lighting your Christmas tree its brightest, see this video tutorial by Hanna.
Red & Gold – I love that it is topped with a big felt bow!
Royal Blue, Silver, & Winter White – The big flowers are a definite do!
Red Ribbon – I love the 3D twig fillers! They make you want to keep looking at the tree.
White Tree with Bright Ornaments – For a fun, nontraditional look try this!
We want to see your creativity! If you use Instagram or Twitter, upload your holiday decor photos with #HauteHoliday so we can see what you’ve been up to!
